The Remover of Obstacles

This antique silver box is beautifully engraved with the likeness of Lord Ganesh, also known as Ganesha or Ganapati,in profile. Among the pantheon of Hindu gods, this god is summoned to bless any endeavor or new beginning.

The elephant god is known as the remover of obstacles and is considered the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors.

The box is constructed in sterling silver, and measures approximately 2 x 1.25 x 0.75 ins. The engraving is very fine and of exceptional quality. The sides of the box are engraved with a foliate motif. No evidence of any repairs and the closure of the lid produces a satisfying click.

19th Century.

The box would make a wonderful gift to someone embarking on a new venture, may be used as a pillbox to remove obstacles to good health, or may be filled with a lock of hair from a loved one to provide protection and smooth their path in life.

Or perhaps an object to admire in your own Wunderkammer, or cabinet of curiosities.

This box will arrive beautifully wrapped in auspicious-colored shocking pink paper and packaging.
