Each earring is a graduated pair of cushion-cut pink & blue spinels from Tanzania, mounted in platinum. 

This set of four spinels from a new location in Tanzania. The blue spinels in particular would look wild to our ancestors. Myanmar(Burma) has been the historic source for spinels, and they were red to pink. Seeing spinels in different colors is a relatively new phenomenon, and the intensity of their color needed nothing more than a conduit in the thinnest platinum wire. 

The earrings were entirely handmade in New York City.
