These antique gold ear pendants are known as Brincos a Rainha, named after the Queen Maria II during her visit to Viana do Castelo.
These are worn by the women of Viana do Castelo region and are still crafted by skilled Portuguese goldsmiths in a traditional Minho folk design.

Travel to Portugal at the end of August to witness the Mordomias parade, part of the annual Romaria Senhora d’Agonia festival, a living ethnographic display of hundreds of women in traditional clothing & jewelry walking through the streets. The Mordomias wear the jewels of the whole family, and it is a glorious sight to behold. The incredible embroidery of the region is showcased in the dresses.
