French-Cut Diamond Ring

Designed as a seven-stone diamond ring, in a design ubiquitous during the 17th century, set with seven French-cut diamonds, within a blackened platinum topped 18K gold mounting. The interior of the band is engraved with the Latin inscription AMOR VINSIT OMNIAE(sic), Love Conquers All.

The inscription is inspired by English posy rings. In this ring, vincit is misspelled. It's an indication of not just how rare and elusive literacy was centuries ago, but also illustrates how language is in constant flux. (e.g. Breukelen to Brooklyn) Please also check out my renaissance ring, which is inscribed with posy 'Trew Love' in old English.

Materials: 18K yellow gold & oxidized platinum

Stones: 7 French-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.72 cts. total weight.

Weight: 7.3 grams

Hallmarks & Stamps: Hand engraved 'Golconda' and '18K'

Size: 7.25

*This ring is not sizable. If you need another size, please purchase this ring, indicate your size at checkout, or via email, and we will produce a custom ring in your size and ship it in 6 weeks.

**This ring design would make a beautiful engagement ring. Perhaps with the posy 'In my choyce I do rejoyce.'?
